Futures at Peace
on the eve
before one receives
an encounter with distant kin
one recollects quite precisely
what one has been
well
one has been one
who would give hugs to strangers
and pounds to the vagrants
sleeping in pavement mangers
quite so
one has been one
who has toured
the absurd dangers of the atlas
and been captured in psychedelic chambers of madness
one has been one
who in the sadness of imprisonment
would find gladness in the bewilderment of it all
oh yes for certain
one has been such
to have been tried and found guilty
for lazing around thoughts
of milky ways of life
one has been shackled
to taught tethered nausea
and blurred vision
one was brought before the exorcists of wisdom
and one did
after the concession of their disbelief
concede one’s own
one the eve
before one receives
and expresses an epic affection
one conceives rather imaginatively
of tidal waves of change
whose overwhelming shadows
pain the graves of one’s pain
and frame fantastic figures
of futures at peace
where all angers cease
and released are all suspicions
forever relieved
are the conditions of malevolence
the spiteful and the contemptuous impose
