Mosquito Hawk

Sugarjail

a window jails my journeyed longing
to a foggy unfocused attention
within the raindrops dribbling down
every wandering awaits your mention
a pane in frame through which i clinch
to impulse effervescing
each bubble bursting your brown eyes
like autumn trees undressing
where dust graffitis glass
and paint flakes and peels to time
my blood exhausts in streams and rivers
of sugar to glimpse your mind
the current of molecules unfolds your face
each cells divides your smile
in the circulation’s unrelenting pace
I faint and plead guilt at trial
soon dizzly depletes that saccharine store
of love’s hallucination
there all that remains is the splintered wood frame’s
mental incarceration
though foggy, dusty, flaky; transparent
I present to you for inspections
my appeal for release can be made only
before the jury of your affections
grant me pardon from the window’s capture
before collapses, this devotion
my biology cannot long sustain
marathon emotion
